Heavenly Thinking

Nov 2, 2025    Pastor Kevin Lawson

This powerful message calls us to examine what truly drives our daily lives by exploring Philippians 1:22-25, where the Apostle Paul declares himself 'torn between two' desires—longing to be with Christ in heaven while recognizing his earthly purpose to spread the gospel. We're challenged to ask ourselves a penetrating question: when we wake up each morning, are we thinking about heaven, or are we consumed with schedules, bank accounts, appointments, and personal goals? The sermon reminds us that Paul didn't prioritize church programs, retirement plans, or even family systems—he prioritized leading people to Christ above all else. This isn't about diminishing the importance of our responsibilities, but about reordering our priorities so that our primary existence revolves around drawing closer to God and bringing others with us. We shouldn't invite people to church because of our building, music, or pastor, but because we're driven by the Holy Spirit to draw people closer to Christ. When we collectively reach this deeper place of spiritual maturity—where we're so compelled by our encounter with Christ that it transforms how we think, walk, and talk—we'll witness miracles beyond what we've only prayed and dreamed about. This is a call to radical Christianity, where being heavenward in our thoughts and actions becomes our daily reality.
